This year’s Christmas vacation was planned in a bit of a hurry. David stayed for a week in October, and Leah came to visit for ten days in early November. Then our family planned a skiing trip to Canada in February. We have been seeing each other quite frequently. When asking David and Leah if they would be back for Christmas at the end of the year, they both said that air tickets were too expensive and suggested that it would be best for us to go east for the holidays. Leaving the most expensive time slot for us, we had no complaints and thought it was a great plan. We happily booked plane tickets.
12月24日我们带着安娜乘红眼飞机抵达纽约， 儿子起了个大早开车去接我们，到了儿子家，有热粥肉松杂榨菜吃， 热乎乎下肚，无比满足。儿子把家里沙发床铺也都准备得好好的，我们美美地睡了一觉后去第五大道闲逛, 吃了肉夹馍和西红柿鸡蛋面。下午回去时，大丫从波士顿坐火车到了。
On December 24, we arrived in New York with Anna on a red-eye flight. David got up early to pick us up. When we arrived at his place, we had hot porridge and meat floss mixed with pickled mustard, prepared by David (leaving a satisfying warmth in our bellies). David also prepared the sofa bed nicely for us. After a cozy nap, we strolled along Fifth Avenue and had meat buns and tomato and egg noodles. When we got back in the afternoon, Leah arrived by train from Boston.
晚饭儿子再次秀了厨艺, orange chicken，工艺复杂，好吃极了。 五福做了白菜肉丝，举杯五粮液，全家五口庆祝平安夜。饭后去Christmas market 玩儿，喝了 no chewing allowed hot chocolate, 边喝边走到了洛
克菲勒中心，人山人海，火树银花，奇光异彩，绚丽夺目。
At dinner, David showcased his cooking skills, with orange chicken, which was incredibly delicious. Daddy made shredded cabbage and pork. We toasted with Wuliangye, celebrating Christmas Eve as a family. After dinner, we went to the Christmas market sipping on “no chewing allowed” hot chocolate while walking to Rockefeller Center, amidst the crowds, watching the spectacular lights and displays.

圣诞节早上，我和五福出去跑步，俺儿子给的路线环绕中央公园一周，正好十迈。On Christmas morning, Daddy and I went for a run, following the route David had suggested around Central Park, a perfect ten-mile run.
儿子置办了一颗小小的新鲜圣诞树，装饰得很有节日气息，树下堆满了大包小包圣诞礼物。墙上挂着一排圣诞彩灯，温馨又温暖。一起开礼物，俺收到一件金色的棉大衣，五福收到了一口好锅和铲子。
David had set up a small fresh Christmas tree, beautifully decorated, with a big pile of Christmas gifts underneath. There was a row of Christmas lights hanging on the wall, which was warm and cozy. Opening the gifts, I received a golden warm coat, and Daddy got an induction pot and spatula.
晚饭前Rob到了，给我们带来好多小礼物，大多是他亲手做的食品，精致得很。晚上全家一起去一家米其林推荐的川菜馆, 品相和味道都老好了。回来路上穿过纽约第五大道和时代广场，再次体验了纽约大都市的奇光异彩和火爆的人气。Rob arrived before dinner and brought us many gifts, most of which were food made by himself, which were very exquisite. In the evening, we all went to a Michelin-recommended Sichuan restaurant. The presentation and taste were both excellent. Walking back, we passed through Fifth Avenue and Times Square, once again experiencing the dazzling lights and bustling city atmosphere of New York.
早上和五福沿着Hudson River一直跑到 George Washington 大桥，来回15迈。In the morning, Daddy and I ran along the Hudson River to the George Washington Bridge, covering a total of 15 miles.
吃过早饭，全家一起去印度调料店，这家三层楼的印度店铺，据说是隔着门风吹喇叭-名声在外，能想到和想不到的各种调料食品,可食用的化学辅料应有尽有，中国日本韩国泰国等各国调料也很齐全，琳琅满目，如同进了博物馆。午饭孩子们请我们吃了韩国饭，地道精致美味，吃得心满意足。晚饭去了儿子预定的牛排老店Keens ，几十万个烟袋锅挂满了屋顶，好很多名人包括罗斯福总统和爱因斯坦都来过这里，他们的烟袋锅展示在橱窗里。生蚝鲜美，牛排羊排分量极大，吃得扶墙而出。
After breakfast, the whole family went to an Indian spice shop. This three-story Indian shop has a reputation for” blowing the trumpet through the crack of the door”- loudly well-known in the outside world. It has all kinds of condiments, foods, and chemical additives that can be imagined and unimagined, from China, Japan, and South Korea. There is also a wide range of condiments from Thailand and other countries, and it’s like entering a museum. For lunch, The kids treated us to a delicious Korean place, leaving us satisfied. Dinner was at Keens, a steakhouse that David had booked in advance. Hundreds of thousands of pipes were hung on the ceiling. Many notable people, including President Roosevelt and Einstein, had been here, and their pipes were displayed in the window. The oysters were fresh, and the portions of steak and lamb chops were huge, that we could barely walk out after the meal.
本想今天歇一天不跑了，但是考虑到明天下雨，更主要的是昨晚吃的太撑了，俺俩决定出去消食健胃跑。在中央公园里，沿着各个小路跑上跑下，发现了不少亭阁小溪水塘，别有意境。
Originally planning to take a break from running today, but considering tomorrow's rainy forecast and mainly because we felt quite stuffed from last night, Daddy and I decided to go for a run to digest the food we ate last night. In Central Park, running along various paths, we discovered several pavilions, creeks, and ponds, each with its own charm.
回家后吃上了儿子和Rob精心准备的广式早餐， 有虾仁肠粉，萝卜糕，蒸排骨，凤爪，珍珠丸子，甜点，儿子的手艺就是好啊，秒杀广东餐馆的。吃饱喝足一起开车前往波士顿，到达大丫家时，已经晚饭时间，吃了Rob准备的牛排蛋炒饭和剩菜。

一天都淅淅沥沥下雨。今天主要任务是给大丫的洗衣机装隔音板，早上六点多起来和五福去home depot买零件，中午顶门去极其火爆的餐馆 川山甲吃午饭，据说晚饭要排队三个小时。这里果然惊艳，菜式和相貌都是一流，不知这样的餐馆啥时候能落户三叠沟。下午五福接着干活，我和大丫安娜出去逛街。晚饭出去吃龙虾，喝了clam chowder soup, 吃了lobster rolls配薯条，个头太大了，吃得撑死。
It rained all day. The main task today was to install soundproof panels for Leah’s washing machine. We woke up early, around six, and went to Home Depot to buy the necessary parts. At noon, we headed to the extremely popular restaurant, Mountain House, for lunch. It was indeed impressive, both in terms of the taste and their presentation. It was said that people would have to wait for three hours during dinner time. I wondered when a restaurant like this would be opened in San Diego. Dad continued to work in the afternoon, and Leah, Anna, and I went shopping. We went out for lobster for dinner, had clam chowder soup, and lobster rolls with French fries. the portions were huge, and we were so stuffed.
今早沿着Charles river 跑步， 去哈佛摸了佛脚，远远看了MIT，打卡波马终点。
We ran along the Charles River this morning, went to Harvard to touch Harvard’s feet, saw MIT from a distance, and checked in at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
五福接着给大丫当长工。午饭全家去一家叫江南的餐厅吃饭，这家中餐馆好高大上啊，坐落在意大利式建筑里面，每份菜都是精品。下午和五福逛街消食，晚上享受儿子和Rob的手艺。炭火烤羊肉串完全可以和新疆羊肉串媲美，红烧板栗香菇鸡特别入味， 肉丸冬瓜汤也是老鲜美了，最后的芋头西米露更是我的最爱, 吃得胃口都快爆炸了。我不禁感叹，这么个吃法，如果不跑步，不知要肥成啥样？ 大丫说，this is what you're supposed to do during holidays.
Daddy continued finishing up the work. For lunch, we went to a restaurant called Jiang Nan. It was a beautiful Chinese restaurant located in an Italian-style building, and every dish seemed like a masterpiece.
In the afternoon, Dad and I went shopping. In the evening, we all went to Jeff’s place, where we enjoyed the food prepared by David and Rob. The charcoal grilled lamb skewers were as delicious as those made by Xinjiang people, the braised chestnut and mushroom chicken was incredibly flavorful, the meatballs and winter melon soup tasted fresh and delicious, and the taro and sago dessert soup was my favorite. I ate so much that it felt like my stomach was about to burst. I couldn’t help but comment that "if I keep eating like this without running. I wonder how big I would become?" Leah remarked," This is what you're supposed to do during holidays."
一周的圣诞假期过得忙碌充实温馨开心，全家在一起吃吃喝喝就是开心啊！
The one-week Christmas holiday was busy, fulfilling, warm, and joyful. Being together as a family and enjoying good food made it truly happy!
